Munster have been dealt a major blow ahead of their United Rugby Championship quarter-final game against Ospreys following injuries to Joey Carbery, Tom Ahern and Rory Scannell.

Carbery suffered a thumb injury during the win over Ulster in the previous weekend and will now miss the upcoming clash against Ospreys. It also meant that the 28-year-old might have played his last game for the Irish province as he heads to Benetton next season.

Ahern sustained a leg injury and is set to miss the remainder of the season while Scannell is set to undergo surgery after he was stretchered off the field in the previous round.

"Tom Ahern suffered an ankle/lower leg injury against Ulster and will go for a scan today, he is unavailable for the coming weeks," said the club.

"Joey Carbery suffered a thumb injury versus Ulster and will be unavailable this week."

Munster finished the group stage at the top with 13 wins from 18 matches.
