Munster Rugby and the Irish Rugby Football Union have confirmed that Peter O'Mahony has signed a new one-year contract.

O'Mahony's new contract has ended speculation over his future as he will continue to be available for the province and Ireland for the next season.

The 34-year-old stepped down from Munster captaincy last year with Tadhg Beirne taking the role but he successfully led Ireland to a successful Six Nations title earlier in the year after taking over from the retired Johnny Sexton.

Having made his Munster debut in 2010, O'Mahony has featured in 182 games for the Irish province and went on to win the United Rugby Championship titles in the 2010/11 and 2022/23 seasons. He also was named the Munster Rugby Young Player of the Year in 2012 and Munster Rugby Men's Player of the Year in 2019.

He was named club captain in 2013 and held the role over 10 years before stepping down.

O'Mahony made his Ireland debut in 2012 and has played in 105 Tests for Ireland while winning the Six Nations titles five times 2014, 2015, 2018, 2023 and 2024 that includes two Grand Slam triumph. He also has played in four games for the British and Irish Lions.
