Ospreys secure hooker Efan Daniel for 2025/26 season

The Ospreys have announced the signing of 22-year-old hooker Efan Daniel ahead of the 2025/26 United Rugby Championship season.

Daniel joins from Cardiff Rugby, where he made 24 appearances and developed a reputation as one of Wales’ rising front-row talents.

Known for his strong physical attributes—standing 6’1” and weighing 109kg—Daniel combines strength in the scrum with mobility and sharp decision-making in open play.

Daniel was part of the Wales touring squad to Australia last year and came off the bench during their win over the Queensland Reds.

Reflecting on his move, Daniel said, “I’m really happy to have joined the Ospreys.

"The boys and coaches have been great since I got here. It’s like I’ve been here for a few years instead of a couple of weeks.

"The Ospreys were the team I watched most growing up, so I’m looking forward to putting on the black jersey and making an impact wherever I can.”

Head coach Mark Jones welcomed the addition.

“Efan is a player we’ve admired for some time. It’s exciting to have him as part of our setup.

"We have a strong blend of youth and experience at hooker, which is important in such a specialised position.”
