The Scarlets have secured long-term futures for two of their most promising front-row prospects, with academy graduates Josh Morse and Isaac Young signing new senior contracts ahead of the upcoming season.

Both players rose through the Scarlets Senior Academy and represented Wales at the U20 World Championship in South Africa last year.

Morse, a loose-head prop from Llandovery RFC, was considered a powerful scrummager and carrier before being sidelined all of last season with a knee injury. He is now fully fit and eager to make an impact.

Hooker Young, praised for his combative style, made eight senior appearances last season—three off the bench in the United Rugby Championship and others in the Challenge Cup. He also played for Carmarthen Quins in the Super Rygbi Cymru competition.

Head coach Dwayne Peel expressed his confidence in both players:

“They are young front-rowers with a huge amount of potential. Both have impressed at U20s level for Wales and have shown the desire and hard work in their rehab to come back better and stronger.”

Morse commented, “Last season was hugely frustrating not being able to play, but I’ve been working hard on my rehab… I can’t wait to get back out there and repay the faith the club has shown in me.” Isaac Young added, “I’m proud to re-sign with the Scarlets. I’m looking forward to working hard… and making the most of the opportunity.”

These new deals coincide with several other squad updates: the Scarlets have also retained players like Jake Ball, Samuel Costelow, Tomi Lewis, Eddie James, Joe Roberts, and Taine Plumtree, while promoting eight Academy stars to the senior setup. Incoming signings include Joe Hawkins, Dane Blacker, Tristan Davies, Ioan Jones, and Jake Ball.
