Nick Martin, the promising second-row forward from Cardiff Rugby, will spend the 2025–26 season on loan at Dragons RFC in a move designed to boost his game time and development.

The 24-year-old lock has been a part of the Cardiff setup for several seasons and will now look to establish himself further in the United Rugby Championship under the Dragons’ banner.

Keen to gain more competitive exposure, Martin expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity and the challenge that lies ahead.

“It’s a new environment, a new team and a big opportunity for me to grow and test myself. I’m looking forward to meeting the boys and getting stuck into training and games,” he said.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time with Cardiff so far and am very grateful for all the support I’ve had from coaches and players. I’m excited about the chance to play regular rugby at Dragons and hope to bring real energy to the squad.”

Dragons RFC Head Coach Dai Flanagan welcomed the addition, highlighting Martin’s athleticism and potential impact in set-pieces and open play.

“We’re really pleased to welcome Nick to the squad for the coming season. He is a talented young Welsh lock with plenty of promise.

"This loan arrangement gives him the platform to keep developing and push for a regular starting role at the top level,” Flanagan said.
