Bristol 26 - 11 Sale Sharks

Jason Woodward scored a try nine minutes into his Bristol Rugby career as the hosts claimed their first win of the 2016-17 Anglo-Welsh Cup season after defeating the Sale Sharks by 26-11 at the Ashton Gate stadium on Friday.

Scrum-half Rhodri Williams (34) and left-wing Jack Tovey (49) were the other two try scorers for Bristol.

Fly-half Billy Searle converted Tovey's try while missing out on previous two attempts in addition to slotting a couple of penalties. His replacement Adrian Jarvis scored a three-pointer on 68th minute.

Tighthead prop Halani 'Aulika (44) was the lone try scorer for the visitors. Fly-half Dan Mugford and fullback Tom Arscott slotted a penalty each.

The Sharks will now host the Blues in the next round clash while Bristol will face the Ospreys.
