Bristol Bears have signed English-qualified hooker Bryn Gordon as injury cover, while loosehead prop Andrew Turner has agreed a new contract with the club.

Gordon joins Bristol from North Harbour

The 25-year-old arrives from North Harbour following the conclusion of their National Provincial Championship campaign in New Zealand.

Gordon provides additional depth at hooker with Harry Thacker still sidelined by a neck injury suffered in the PREM Rugby Cup. Gabriel Oghre is also unavailable after picking up a calf strain.

“It’s great to welcome Bryn into the group,” director of rugby Pat Lam said. “With Harry Thacker currently sidelined, it was important for us to strengthen our options at hooker.”

Turner extends second spell with Bears

Turner has also signed fresh terms with Bristol after returning to the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 24-year-old first joined Bristol’s pathway at the age of 13 before later spending time with Doncaster Knights and Harlequins.

Lam praised Turner’s development after progressing through Bristol’s pathway from the age of 13 and welcomed his continued growth with the senior squad.

“It’s great to welcome Bryn into the group. With Harry Thacker currently sidelined, it was important for us to strengthen our options at hooker, and Bryn is a talented and hungry player who will add competition and depth to the squad.

“We’re also pleased to have Drew continuing with us. He’s worked hard since arriving as a 13-year-old and has been a positive addition to the group, so we’re looking forward to seeing him continue his growth."

Trevett joins Ospreys on loan

Academy loosehead Louie Trevett has meanwhile joined Ospreys on loan to gain further senior experience in the United Rugby Championship.

Trevett has represented Wales at Under-20 level and previously spent time on loan with Scarlets.
