Tom Roebuck signs new Sale Sharks contract

England winger Tom Roebuck has signed a new two-year contract with Sale Sharks, extending his stay with his boyhood club until at least the end of the 2028/29 season.

Roebuck commits future to Sale Sharks

The 25-year-old has made 114 appearances and scored 54 tries for Sale since making his senior debut against Worcester Warriors in the PREM Rugby Cup in 2018.

Roebuck progressed through the Sharks Academy after beginning his junior rugby career at Chester Rugby Club and has developed into one of Sale’s most prolific attacking players.

“For me, Sale Sharks is home,” Roebuck said. “It’s the club I supported as a child, it’s where I’ve grown up and it’s all I know. I love it here and I couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else.”

England winger targeting further progress

Roebuck made his senior England debut against Japan during the 2024 summer tour before scoring his first Test try against the same opposition at Twickenham later that year.

He featured and scored against Bath in this season’s PREM Rugby Cup but has missed Sale’s opening three league fixtures with a calf strain.

Roebuck said continuing to push for England selection was a significant factor in his decision to remain with Sale.

Sanderson backs Roebuck development

Director of rugby Alex Sanderson described Roebuck as a major part of Sale’s plans and praised his continued development.

“Tom is one of our own and he’s has developed into one of the very best wingers in the PREM. We’re so happy that he’s sticking with us because he’s a massive part of how we want to play going forward.

“He has an X-factor that very few other players have but the most exciting part is that he’s getting better all the time and I know his best is yet to come. I’m buzzing that his best years will be in a Sharks shirt.”
