England flanker Tom Curry has signed a new contract with Sale Sharks, extending his long association with the club and keeping him at Carrington until at least 2028.
Tom Curry extends Sale Sharks stay
Curry made his professional debut for Sale in the European Champions Cup in October 2016 at the age of 18. He became the youngest Sale player to appear in the competition and the fourth-youngest player overall at the time.
Two weeks later, Curry scored on his PREM debut, becoming the competition’s third-youngest try-scorer. His performances alongside twin brother Ben during their breakthrough season saw the pair share Sale’s Young Player of the Season award.
The 28-year-old has since made more than 125 appearances for Sale and remains a key member of the club’s back-row options.
England and Lions flanker commits until 2028
Curry has won 71 caps for England and has represented the British and Irish Lions on two tours, in South Africa in 2021 and Australia in 2025.
He started all three Lions Tests on both tours, giving him six Test appearances for the combined side.
Curry said Sale had been part of his life since childhood, recalling attending matches at Edgeley Park before progressing through the club’s pathway and eventually becoming a senior player alongside his brother.
“Sale Sharks means everything to me and this is the club I have supported my whole life. From a young age I can remember going to Edgeley Park and now to be able to replicate my heroes growing up is something that is hard to put into words.
“To be able to say I can do that with my brother every week and my family up here makes it even more special.
“I’m very proud of the hard work we’ve put in over the last ten years to get the club to where it is now, but I know how much more we have to give and that’s the reason I want to stay. There’s no place I would rather be.”
Alex Sanderson welcomes Curry contract
Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson described Curry as a cornerstone of the club’s senior group and highlighted the experience he has gained with England and the Lions.
“Tom has been in some of the best environments in the world with England and the British and Irish Lions, and it was him who said we have to keep this core group of senior players together.
“He’s as fit and as fast as he’s ever been and his capacity to work and impact the game both sides of the ball is incredible.
“He’s fundamental to us in terms of being the cornerstone of that core group and I’m delighted he’s staying because we want him to finish his career at Sale.”
