Western Force re-sign Taj Annan

Western Force have confirmed that utility back Taj Annan has signed a new two-year deal, keeping him with the club as they continue building their squad for the coming seasons.

Annan joined the Force in late 2025 on an injury cover contract and made his club debut in Round 5 against the Hurricanes.

The 22-year-old impressed during his first season in Perth despite limited playing opportunities. His performances and potential have now earned him a longer-term commitment from the club.

Annan previously spent time with Queensland Reds, where he made 13 Super Rugby appearances across the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He later had a stint in rugby league with Newcastle Knights before returning to rugby union with the Force.

Force Back Young Utility Talent

Annan can play fly-half, wing or full-back, giving the Force valuable depth across the backline.

Born in Newcastle and educated at Brisbane Boys’ College, he played for Easts in Queensland’s Hospital Cup before making his Super Rugby debut for the Reds in 2023.

He was also selected for Australia Under-20s and played at the World Rugby U20 Championship in South Africa after the 2023 season.

Annan recently underwent double hip surgery and is aiming to be fully fit for pre-season in November. He said he was excited to stay in Western Australia and wanted to repay the faith shown by the club.

“I’m extremely excited to re-sign,” Annan said.

“The club is moving in a good direction, as shown by the strong finish to last season, so I’m thrilled to commit long term.

“I want to repay the club for the faith they’ve shown in me, offering me the opportunity to come over last year. I also feel like I’ve got unfinished business in rugby too.

“It’s a fantastic group over here. We speak about WA being our chosen home and it is to me, as it’s a great club to be part of and an awesome place to live in".
