Super Rugby Pacific reveals its 2027 draw with 17 rounds, more Sunday games, Easter fixtures and Super Round returning to Christchurch.

The 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season will feature a 17-round, 80-match regular season, more Sunday fixtures, a full Easter programme and the return of Super Round to Christchurch as the competition enters a Rugby World Cup year.
Super Rugby Pacific 2027 starts in Christchurch
The season begins on Friday, February 12, with the Crusaders hosting the Queensland Reds at One New Zealand Stadium in Christchurch. The ACT Brumbies will face the NSW Waratahs in Canberra later that evening.
Opening weekend continues on Saturday as the Fijian Drua meet the Highlanders, defending champions Hurricanes begin their title defence against the Blues at Eden Park, and Western Force host the Chiefs in Perth.
The 2027 competition will feature 10 teams following Moana Pasifika’s departure after the 2026 season. Each team will play 16 regular-season matches across 17 rounds.
More Sunday games and Easter fixtures
The Super Rugby Pacific 2027 draw includes 10 Sunday matches, six more than the previous season.
Easter weekend will feature a complete competition round of five matches, adding another major fixture block to the expanded calendar.
Super Round returns to Christchurch
Christchurch will host Super Round in Round 8, with all five matches staged at One New Zealand Stadium from April 2 to 4. The Crusaders will open the event against the Brumbies on Friday, April 2.
Round 11 will coincide with Anzac weekend, with the Reds and Blues playing the only Super Rugby Pacific fixture of the round at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. The other eight teams will have no Super Rugby fixture that weekend.
The match will take place on April 24, one day before Australia and New Zealand contest the inaugural Anzac Day Bledisloe Cup Test at the same venue.
Super Rugby Pacific chief executive Jack Mesley said the 2027 schedule would give supporters more rugby while increasing the stakes as players compete for Test selection ahead of the Rugby World Cup.
“We’re delighted to deliver a 2027 draw that gives fans more to look forward to than ever before - Sunday footy, an epic Easter weekend, Super Round back in Christchurch and a history-making Anzac weekend in Brisbane,” Mesley said.
“Every team begins the season with a clear ambition to win the title. But the stakes will be even higher next year, with the opening half of the season shaping as a shootout for Test jerseys ahead of the inaugural Anzac Bledisloe and the Rugby World Cup coming sharply into view beyond it."
