Hurricanes hooker Jacob Devery has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him with the club for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season.

The Hawke’s Bay forward was part of the Hurricanes’ title-winning 2026 squad and will enter his sixth season with the franchise next year.

Devery said he was proud to continue representing the Hurricanes after agreeing terms for another season.

“I’m grateful to re-sign with the Hurricanes for 2027,” he said. “I always feel very proud and privileged every time I get the opportunity to represent this club and I can’t wait to get underway again next year.”

Born in Hastings, Devery came through the Hurricanes development system and represented the franchise at age-grade level while attending Hastings Boys’ High School.

Hawke’s Bay pathway to Super Rugby

Devery made his Hawke’s Bay NPC debut in 2017 before establishing himself more firmly with the Magpies during the 2021 campaign.

He later made his Hurricanes debut against the Crusaders in 2022 and has since reached 25 appearances for the franchise.

The 28-year-old featured eight times during the Hurricanes’ 2026 Super Rugby Pacific campaign and came off the bench in the Grand Final against the Chiefs.

Devery has also made close to 50 appearances for Hawke’s Bay and featured during the Magpies’ Ranfurly Shield campaign in 2023.

Maori All Blacks recognition

Devery earned his first Maori All Blacks selection in 2025 and has remained involved with the representative side since then, including selection for the 2026 campaign.
