Western Force have confirmed that utility back Boston Fakafanua has signed a new two-year deal with the club.
The 20-year-old becomes the latest player to recommit after an encouraging finish to the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season.
Western Force Re-Sign Boston Fakafanua
Fakafanua has extended his stay with the Force for a further two seasons. His new deal follows recent re-signings for Dylan Pietsch, Mac Grealy, Henry Robertson, Sef Fa’agase and Leonel Oviedo.
The young back made his Super Rugby Pacific debut in Round 15 of the 2026 season against Fijian Drua. He had previously impressed during the 2025 Super Rugby AUS competition before earning his first senior contract with the club.
Australia U20s Back Continues Development
Fakafanua has already represented Australia at age-grade level and was part of the national squads for the 2024 and 2025 World Rugby U20 Championships.
The centre came through the Force Academy and captained the club at Super Rugby Men’s U19 level. He also attended The King’s School in Sydney, a well-known rugby pathway.
Simon Cron Backs Long-Term Force Talent
Force head coach Simon Cron described Fakafanua as an exciting and driven player with power and pace. He said the club sees him as a long-term part of its environment.
“Obviously Boston has been with us now for a number of years.
“He’s an exciting, driven player. He is powerful and fast. He’s a pleasure to coach.
“He got his debut this year for us at the Western Force. We see him as a long-term player in our environment, so we’re thrilled he has re-committed with us.”
Fakafanua said he was pleased to re-sign and believes the club is moving in a strong direction.
“I’m stoked to re-sign. I can see the club is going in an awesome direction and really want to be here for that.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my first Super Rugby season and was able to really develop my game playing alongside guys like Kurtley Beale and Hamish Stewart. I do feel like I’ve been able to grow a lot in a short period of time.
“Now, I’ve had a taste of Super Rugby, I’m hoping to kick on and become a mainstay in the side next season and beyond.”
