Timothy Lafaele scored hat-trick of tries as Sunwolves trounced Blues by 48-21 in the final round of the Super Rugby clash at Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

James Parsons (8') and Gerard Cowley-Tuioti (12') scored tries for Blues as they took a 14 point lead. Timothy Lafaele responded with a try of his own to get Sunwolves off the mark but his efforts were negated by a touchdown from Michael Collins as Blues maintained their 14 point lead.

Ryohei Yamanaka (53'), Kaito Shigeno (63'), Lafaele (68' and 75') and Yoshitaka Tokunaga (78') along with a penalty try in the second half saw Sunwolves post 48 points.

Blues, who suffered a sin-bin to Jerome Kaino, failed to add any point in the final 40 minutes as they succumbed to a 27 point defeat.

Sunwolves and Blues finished the tournament with bottom positions in Africa 1 and New Zealand Conferences respectively.
