UAR President Gabriel Travelaglini has revealed about the possibility of Argentine club Jaguares returning to Super Rugby ahead of the 2026 season.

Travelaglini confirmed the news in an interview with Argentine journalists Alejo Miranda and Xavier Prieto Astigarraga.

Jaguares featured in Super Rugby between 2016 and 2020 while reaching the final of the 2019 edition but were excluded during the Covid hit 2020 season following which the players were asked to explore overseas options.

The club was rebranded to Jaguares XV and featured in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) and went on to win the 2021 season where they remained unbeaten and reached the semi-finals in 2022.

While New Zealand and Australia had their own Super Rugby competition, the tournament was expanded to include five teams apiece from the two countries along with Moana Pasifika and Fijian Drua.

A report further added that the UAR is also considering the option of playing in the United Rugby Championship joining the footsteps of South Africa with a decision to be taken in due course.
