Brad Mooar to join Fijian Drua as Head Coach

Crusaders assistant coach Brad Mooar will leave the club after accepting the Fijian Drua head coaching role for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season.

Mooar will depart the Crusaders after another successful spell with the Christchurch-based franchise. He has been part of the club’s coaching group across six seasons and has contributed to four championship-winning campaigns.

The experienced coach has played an important role in the Crusaders’ continued success, both on the field and within the wider team environment. His move to the Drua gives him a new opportunity to lead a Super Rugby Pacific side as head coach.

Fijian Drua Appoint Brad Mooar

Mooar said he and his family were excited about the new opportunity, though he admitted it would be difficult to leave the Crusaders after his time with the club.

"I've loved being part of this club and working alongside such great people.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported me during my time here. The relationships I've built here won't change, and I look forward to watching the Crusaders continue to thrive while staying connected to the club in the years ahead."

Crusaders Praise Mooar Contribution

Crusaders CEO Colin Mansbridge said Mooar’s departure would leave a significant gap in the coaching group but added that the Fijian Drua role was thoroughly deserved.

"Brad has been an outstanding contributor to our club and this opportunity sees him step into a head coaching role that is thoroughly deserved," says Mansbridge.

"As both a coach and a person, there is no one better suited to such a challenge.”
