The Crusaders have suffered a major setback before the Super Rugby Pacific playoffs, with All Blacks fullback Will Jordan ruled out for the rest of their campaign due to a calf injury.
Will Jordan Injury Blow For Crusaders
Jordan aggravated his calf injury during the Crusaders’ 36-32 win over the Chiefs on Friday, in what was his first match back after six weeks on the sidelines.
The Crusaders have confirmed that the 28-year-old is expected to miss four to six weeks, effectively ending his Super Rugby Pacific season. The club’s social media post also stated that Jordan’s 2026 campaign has come to an end.
Super Rugby Pacific Playoff Setback
Jordan’s absence is a significant loss for the defending champions as they prepare for the knockout stage of the competition. The Crusaders currently sit fourth in the standings and are still chasing a home playoff fixture.
To secure a home finals match in the first round, they must beat the Hurricanes in their final regular-season game and also hope the Blues lose to the Chiefs. The Crusaders are scheduled to name their team for the Hurricanes fixture on Wednesday.
All Blacks Selection Doubt For July Tests
Jordan’s injury could also affect his availability for New Zealand’s July Tests, with the All Blacks set to face France in Christchurch on July 4 before fixtures against Italy and Ireland.
The timing leaves Jordan in a race to be fit for Dave Rennie’s first All Blacks squad, which is expected to be named in mid-June.
