The Hurricanes have defeated the reigning Super Rugby champions, the Crusaders in their Super Rugby encounter at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on Saturday.

The Hurricanes have enhanced their reputation by showing their credentials are title winning ones for 2018.

The Hurricanes won 29-19 after leading 26-12 at half-time following four tries by Chris Eves (4), TJ Perenara (12), Ben Lam (21) and Matt Proctor (31) with Beauden Barrett converting the first three.

Jordie Barrett stole the limelight from big brother Beauden, who put the Hurricanes on a winning path, playing an instrumental role in two early tries. He also scored a penalty on the 66th minute 50m out from the posts.

Manasa Mataele (29), Jordan Taufua (36) and Michael Alaalatoa (54) scored tries for the visitors with Mitch Hunt converting the later two of the three.

The result leaves both teams with a two-one win-loss record.
