Hurricanes assistant coach Brad Cooper will leave the club to join Harlequins, ending a successful spell that included helping the Wellington-based side win their first Super Rugby Pacific title in 10 years.

Cooper departs the Hurricanes after playing an important role in the club’s coaching group under head coach Clark Laidlaw. He joined the franchise in July 2024 and has been credited for his contribution to the team’s attacking development.

His move to Harlequins will see him continue his coaching career in English rugby, where he is expected to add fresh ideas to the Prem club’s attacking structure.

Before joining the Hurricanes, Cooper worked with the New Zealand U20 side and built his coaching reputation through Taranaki Rugby.

He held roles across NPC, development, sevens and age-grade programmes, and also served as assistant coach for the New Plymouth Boys’ High School 1st XV.
