SP Marais kicked 15 points as Stormers returned back to winning ways with a 30-22 triumph over Blues in their Super Rugby encounter at DHL Newlands.

Fullback Marais kicked a third minute penalty to get Stormers off the mark following which Blues' Matt Duffie was sin-binned in the 11th minute. Stormers were also reduced to 14-men temporarily after lock Eben Etzebeth was yellow carded.

George Moala (21') and James Parsons (32) provided clear advantage for Blues with their touchdowns as they went on to claim a nine point lead but Siya Kolisi's touchdown at the stroke of half time reduced the gap between the teams to two points.

Flanker Blake Gibson stretched the lead of Blues to nine points when he strolled past the post at the start of the second half but Duffie once again put Blues in deep trouble after he was red-carded in the 66th minute handing an advantage to Stormers.

Dillyn Leyds and Sikhumbuzo Notshe led Stormers fightback with a try apiece while Marais kicked two penalties and conversions apiece to complete a thrilling eight point win for the home side.

Stormers continue to top the Africa 1 Conference while Blues languish at the bottom of New Zealand Conference.
