Stormers scored four tries in the second half as they defeated Sunwolves by 31-44 in their Super Rugby encounter at Singapore National Stadium on Saturday.

Fly-half Robert du Preez got Stormers of the mark with a third minute penalty but Sunwolves responded back with a touchdown from Derek Carpenter and a conversion by fly-half Jumpei Ogura.

Stormers suffered a setback when flanker Rynhard Elstadt was sin-binned in the sixth minute following which a penalty from Ogura extended the lead to seven points. The scores were levelled after centre EW Viljoen strolled past the post in the 17th minute followed by du Preez adding the extras.

Between minutes 21 and 24, wing Shota Emi and lock Liaki Moli scored a try each as they stretched the lead to 14 points. Just at the stroke of half-time onnce again the visitors showed resilience with a try from Rynhard Elstadt followed by a conversion and a penalty from du Preez. At half-time Sunwolves had a slender lead of four points.

Even though Carpenter scored his second try at the start of the second half, Wilco Louw, Dewaldt Duvenage, Bongi Mbonambi and Bjorn Basson scored a try each in the final 30 minutes to seal a 13-point win for Stormers.
