Saracens have confirmed that player Totoa Auvaa will face no further club sanction following an internal review into a nightclub incident involving England cricketers Gus Atkinson and Ben Stokes earlier this month.

Saracens Review Totoa Auvaa Incident

Auvaa was allegedly involved in an altercation with Atkinson at a Chelsea nightclub in the early hours of June 8. Reports said a punch aimed during the incident instead struck an ECB security staff member, who required medical treatment.

The incident came after England’s first Test against New Zealand and led to separate reviews involving the England cricket set-up. Atkinson and Stokes were later cleared of any regulatory breach by the Cricket Regulator, which found insufficient evidence against the pair.

Ben Stokes And Gus Atkinson Cleared

Stokes and Atkinson were left out of England’s second Test at The Oval while the matter was being investigated. They later returned to the squad for the third Test at Trent Bridge.

The ECB said Atkinson had been the victim of unprovoked attacks and did not retaliate, while Stokes was not found to have been involved in the violence. The pair were, however, reported to have received warnings over conduct-related contractual matters.

Saracens Close Internal Investigation

Saracens said the events of June 8 were regrettable but confirmed that their independent internal review had concluded no further action was required. The club said it remained supportive of Auvaa and now considered the matter closed.

The Prem club also said the ECB completed its process and issued its statement without input from Saracens, despite contact between the organisations during the review period.

“Whilst the events that occurred in the early hours of Monday 8 June 2026 are regrettable for all parties involved, the club remains supportive of the player concerned.

“Having thoroughly reviewed the matter, the club has concluded that no further action is required and now considers the matter closed.

"Saracens is satisfied that its independent review was conducted thoroughly and in accordance with the club’s internal procedures and standards.

“The ECB contacted the club as part of its review process. Saracens made clear that it wished to complete its own internal investigation before reaching any conclusions.

“The ECB subsequently concluded its process and issued its statement without any input from Saracens.”

Auvaa, 21, is a former Samoa age-grade captain and is yet to make a senior appearance for Saracens.
