Saracens have confirmed the signing of South African tighthead prop Corné Weilbach ahead of the 2026/27 season, adding another young front-row option to their squad.

Saracens Sign Corné Weilbach

Weilbach is a traditional tighthead prop known for his strength at the set-piece. The 24-year-old came through the rugby programme at Paul Roos Gymnasium, one of South Africa’s well-known schools for developing rugby talent.

During his school career, he was part of a strong U19 A scrum alongside Montpellier prop Robbie Rodgers. Although he narrowly missed out on SA Schools selection, he remained highly rated within the Western Province pathway.

Corné Weilbach Joins From Western Province Pathway

Weilbach continued his development through the Western Province system and earned selection for their squad in the 2022 Currie Cup Premier Division.

He made his senior debut against the Blue Bulls in the second round of the competition, marking an important step in his professional career.

Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall said Weilbach is a young prop with strong potential and believes the club can provide the right environment for his growth.

“Corné is a young prop with real potential. We believe joining Saracens will provide a fantastic environment for him to continue his development and grow into a top-quality tighthead in the years ahead.”

Weilbach said he is excited to join Saracens, describing the club as one with major history and a culture of excellence.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Saracens. It’s a club with a huge history and a culture of excellence, and I’m looking forward to learning, growing and giving everything I can for the team and supporters.”
