Leinster wing Rob Russell has officially signed with English Premiership club Gloucester adding weight to their back-three ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The 26-year-old, a former Ireland U20 standout, made 35 appearances for Leinster since his senior debut in 2021, scoring 18 tries with his electric pace and keen rugby instincts.

A product of St Michael’s College and Leinster’s academy, Russell quickly established himself as a prolific finisher—averaging nearly a try every two games. His consistent performances have attracted attention from top-tier clubs, particularly those seeking attacking flair.

Gloucester Director of Rugby George Skivington welcomed Russell’s arrival, noting his versatility across wing and full-back positions. Skivington highlighted the winger’s excellent track record and hunger for fresh challenges as major assets for the squad.

Russell is eager to test himself in one of Europe’s toughest domestic leagues. “I honestly can’t wait to get started at Gloucester…

"I’m relishing testing myself against some seriously talented players,” he shared, expressing confidence in adapting to the Premiership's physicality and intensity.

His signing complements the recent arrival of Leinster teammate Ross Byrne and offsets upcoming departures like Santiago Carreras and Christian Wade. Gloucester’s back-line looks poised for a transformation.
