Ben Spencer to miss start of PREM Season

Bath Rugby captain Ben Spencer will miss the opening rounds of the 2026/27 Gallagher PREM season as he continues his recovery from shoulder surgery, the club has confirmed in its latest injury update.

The England scrum-half underwent surgery following the summer international window to address a long-standing shoulder issue.

Bath head of medical services Rory Murray confirmed Spencer will not be available for the opening rounds of the new campaign, with his return expected later in the autumn.

Louie Hennessey, Will Muir, Sam Underhill, Tom Dunn and Tom de Glanville also underwent shoulder procedures following the 2025/26 season. All five are progressing through rehabilitation, although Bath have not provided specific return dates.

Will Stuart and Jaco Coetzee return to training

There is positive news for Bath with England prop Will Stuart back in full team training after recovering from the Achilles injury he suffered in December 2025.

South African number eight Jaco Coetzee has also returned to full training following an ACL injury and is expected to be available for the start of the season.

Wales prop Archie Griffin is recovering from toe surgery and is expected to return during the opening rounds of the campaign.

Beno Obano continues injury rehabilitation

England loosehead Beno Obano remains in rehabilitation after suffering a significant hamstring strain against South Africa in July, but is preparing for the start of the season.
