Newcastle Falcons winger Ben Stevenson has been handed a two-match suspension following his red card during the Premiership clash against Gloucester Rugby on 16th May.

The disciplinary decision follows an incident in the 73rd minute, where Stevenson was sent off for tackling a player in the air — an offence under World Rugby Law 9.17.

The case was reviewed by an independent disciplinary panel chaired by Daniel Gore, alongside Mitch Read and Tony Wheat. Stevenson accepted the charge without contest.

“The player accepted that he had committed an act of foul play and that it had warranted a red card.

"The panel considered this to be a low-end entry point, with no aggravating features and one week of mitigation. He is therefore suspended for two matches.”

As a result, Stevenson has already missed Newcastle’s Premiership fixture against Leicester Tigers on May 31, 2025.

The second match of his suspension remains to be confirmed, subject to Newcastle's upcoming fixtures or any potential postseason fixtures.

The red card was a turning point late in the match, which ended in a 26-12 defeat for the Falcons.
