Harlequins have announced the signing of Namibia skipper Renaldo Bothma on a three-year contract.

The flanker will now make a switch from the Super Rugby club Bulls to the Quins at the start of the 2017/18 season.

After making his debut against Kenya in 2014, the 27-year-old has been capped 13 times for Namibia and has represented Golden Lions, Young Lions, Leopards, Pumas, Sharks and Toyota Verblitz in his six-year club career before joining Bulls in 2016.

Harlequins rugby director John Kingston expressed his delight to the club's official website at the new signing and believes Bothma's leadership skills will be an added advantage.

"Renaldo is one of the most destructive ball-carriers in world rugby, and so I am absolutely delighted to have secured his services on a long-term contract," Quins rugby director John Kingston told the Aviva Premiership club's official website.

"As captain of his country, he also brings strong leadership qualities.

"He chose Harlequins over other options around the world, and his signing is a major statement of where we want to take this great club over the coming years."

He was also a part of the IRB Tbilisi Cup winning South Africa President's XV's team in 2013.
