Edinburgh overcame a late resurgence from Harlequins as they managed to edge out the Aviva Premiership side by 36-35 in the European Challenge Cup game at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday.

This was Edinburgh's second consecutive win in the tournament as they now top the Pool 5 table in the Challenge Cup. The Murrayfield outfit are turning things around under the interim coach Duncan Hodge and their aggressive nature of play was clearly evident on Saturday.

Prop Allan Dell (4'), fullback Blair Kinghorn (11'), Nasi Manu (19'), Hamish Watson (24') and Damien Hoyland (40') were the try-scorers for Edinburgh in the first half while a couple of conversions from Jason Tovey added 31 points for the home team in the first 40 minutes.

In response, Harlequins managed only two converted first half tries coming from Charlie Walker while the second was a penalty try. The difference between the teams were 10 points at halft-time. There were more drama as both teams were reduced to 14-men with Tovey and Walker sin-binned.

Kyle Sinckler (43') capitalised with an early try in the second half and infringements continued in the game. This time Quins' Joe Marler was yellow-carded and few minutes later Grant Gilchrist of Edinburgh was sin-binned.

A penalty try in the 59th minute and Matthew Luamanu strolling across the post in the 65th minute, saw Harlequins take the lead at a crucial juncture.

Their four-point advantage came to an end shortly when Tom Brown scored the decisive try to take Edinburgh home by one-point difference.
