Defending champions Hurricanes ran a 13-try riot as they went on to thrash Sunwolves by 17-83 in their Super Rugby clash at Chichibu Memorial Stadium on Friday.

Flanker Ardie Savea (5' and 10'), wing Vince Aso (7'), hooker Ricky Riccitelli (13'), TJ Perenara (20') Julian Savea (27') and Ngani Laumape (36') were the try scorers in the first half with fly half Otere Black adding extras on five occasions to take the total to 45 points.

In response, Sunwolves only points came through a try from fullback Riaan Viljoen in the 33rd minute as they trailed by 40 points.

Number eight Blade Thomson (42'), lock Michael Fatialofa (45' and 53') , flanker Brad Shields (48'), Aso (56') and replacement Wes Goosen (58') amassed six more tries in the second half and Black converted four out of it to ensure 83 points for the visitors.

Shokei Kin and Willie Britz gave some consolation to Sunwolves with their tries in the final 10 minutes but they succumbed to a massive 66 point defeat.
