Toulon have confirmed the signing of former Samoa Under 20 international Brian Alainu'uese after he was granted an early release by Glasgow Warriors.

The 24-year-old made his debut for the Waikato Rugby Union in 2013 and played for Super Rugby club Chiefs two years later.

Alainu'uese switched to Glasgow Warriors in 2016 and made 22 appearances for the Scottish regional club since then but injuries have restricted his participation for the club this year.

Glasgow Warriors head coach Dave Rennie wished Alainu'uese good luck on his stint with the French side.

“It’s a decision that’s in the best interest of both the player and the club,” he said.

“Brian’s had a number of injuries over the last couple of years and we’ve not been able to play him as often as we would have liked, but he’s a good man, is very popular among the squad and will be missed.

“When he’s fit and firing he’s an excellent player and we wish him all the best in France.”

Meanwhile, Alainu'uese thanked Glasgow for the extended support handed over to him.

“I’ve really enjoyed my two years in Glasgow.

“They’re a good bunch of boys and everyone made me feel very welcome.

“I hope the club goes on to have a lot of success in the future.”
