Jamie Ritchie is expected to miss the opening weeks of Glasgow Warriors’ 2026/27 campaign as he continues his recovery from ankle and Achilles problems, but the Scotland international could make his club debut before the November international break.

Ritchie joined Glasgow ahead of the new season after spending the 2025/26 campaign with French Top 14 side Perpignan, where he made 15 appearances.

The 30-year-old arrived at Scotstoun carrying a syndesmosis injury to his ankle, while complications around his Achilles have also slowed his return to full fitness.

Glasgow assistant coach Nigel Carolan said both problems have been treated and Ritchie is now working his way back towards playing.

“He’s on target for then but he might be a little bit sooner,” Carolan said of a possible return before the November break.

Glasgow debut could come in late October

Ritchie will not feature when Glasgow open their United Rugby Championship season away to Munster at Thomond Park on Saturday.

The Warriors have six competitive matches scheduled before the November international window, including late-October fixtures away to Benetton on October 24 and at home to the Lions on October 30.

Those matches could provide opportunities for Ritchie to make his first Glasgow appearance if his rehabilitation continues as planned, although no specific comeback fixture has been confirmed.
