Edinburgh 12-25 Glasgow Warriors, Murrayfield

Glasgow Warriors have given them a good chance of reclaiming the 1872 Cup after defeating Edinburgh 12-25 in their Pro 12 encounter at Murrayfield on Monday.

This is Edinburgh's first defeat against their rivals in the last four encounters between them and they find themselves at the 10th position in the table while Glasgow Warriors are placed sixth.

Wing Junior Bulumakau opened the account for Glasgow Warriors as early as in the first minute but Edinburgh fly-half Duncan Weir helped his team bounce back with two penalties. The second one came Glasgow wing Alex Allan was sin-binned.

However, Edinburgh failed to capitalise on the advantage but instead number eight Josh Strauss crossed over in the 34th minute while Finn Russell added a conversion and a penalty to take Glasgow Warriors to a 6-15 lead at half-time.

Both Weir and Russell exchanged penalties at the start of the second half following which the Edinburgh fly-half added his fourth three-pointer to reduce the deficit to six points.

However, centre Alex Dunbar had other plans when he strolled past the post in the 64th minute and Russell's conversion meant Glasgow Warriors won the derby match by 13 points.
