Glasgow Warriors flanker Adam Ashe said his team is desperate to settle scores with Edinburgh when they take on them in the Pro 12 fixture at Murrayfield on Monday.

The Glasgow-Edinburgh derby which is considered one of the biggest rival in world rugby will also compete for the 1872 Cup on Monday.

In the last season when these two teams faced each other, it was Edinburgh, who emerged victorious on both occasions and went on to claim the 1872 Cup with games scheduled at Murrayfield due to flooding issues at Scotstoun.

Recalling his experience from last season, Ashe said the defeat is still hurting Glasgow Warriors.

"I played in the first game at Murrayfield last year but saw the second one when Edinburgh got the win which meant they got to keep the trophy.

"It's never a good feeling seeing any side celebrate after beating you, especially when it's such a big rivalry like the one between us and Edinburgh.

"I'm sure the guys are still hurting when they think back to what happened.

"But we can only go out and play the best rugby we can and hopefully it will be our guys who are celebrating this time."

Meanwhile, Edinburgh head coach Duncan Hodge is expecting an intriguing contest on Monday and is confident of coming out on top.

"There is no extra motivation needed for Monday's game as we take on our oldest rivals, Glasgow, in a derby match.

"We're looking forward to getting back to league duties and absorbing the challenge the opposition will pose.

"We know what to expect, and we'll need to match them in all areas of the game if we're to come out on top.

"We've named a settled side with a good blend of youth and experience, and everyone involved is excited to get out there in front of our home fans and put in a performance."
