Leicester Tigers have confirmed the return of Geoff Parling as the club’s new head coach. He will officially begin his tenure in August 2025, following the conclusion of the British & Irish Lions series in Australia, where he is currently serving as a coach.
Parling, aged 41, is a familiar face at Welford Road. As a player, he made nearly 100 appearances for the Tigers between 2009 and 2015 and played a crucial role in helping the team secure two Premiership titles during that period.
His playing career also includes 29 caps for England and a memorable stint with the British & Irish Lions on their 2013 tour of Australia.
Since retiring from playing, Parling has built an impressive coaching résumé. He held coaching roles with the Melbourne Rebels and later with the Australian national side, focusing on forward play and player development.
His coaching style is characterized by an emphasis on fundamentals, structure, and building team identity.
The Tigers’ leadership has expressed strong support for Parling’s appointment. Club Chairman Tom Scott said the decision followed a rigorous selection process and reflected the club’s vision for long-term stability and success.
He praised Parling’s understanding of the club’s ethos and his deep rugby intellect.
Chief Executive Andrea Pinchen highlighted Parling’s passion for developing young talent and his commitment to the club’s values, describing him as someone who can inspire both players and supporters.
Reflecting on his return, Parling stated: “I was lucky enough to have some incredible moments in the Leicester Tigers jersey, made through hard work by good people, and so I am extremely proud to be coming back to lead the club.”
