Leicester Tigers sign Australian fly-half Jack Bowen

Leicester Tigers have signed Australian fly-half Jack Bowen on a multi-year deal, with the 22-year-old set to spend the 2026/27 season on loan in Japan before linking up with the PREM club.

Bowen joins Leicester from the NSW Waratahs, having made 17 Super Rugby appearances across four seasons.

The former Australia Under-20 international is regarded as a promising young playmaker and will initially continue his development away from Welford Road.

Tigers head coach Geoff Parling believes Bowen has significant potential and can develop into an important option for Leicester in the coming seasons.

"He'll come to Leicester via our partner club in Japan - Mitsubishi Dynaboars - to keep working on his game," said Parling.

"Then we look forward to seeing what he can do with us from 2027 onwards. Jack is someone who we think has some real potential."

Bowen joins Mitsubishi Dynaboars on loan

Bowen will spend his first season under contract with Leicester on loan at Mitsubishi Dynaboars in Japan Rugby League One.

The Kanagawa-based club, coached by former London Irish and Nottingham boss Glenn Delaney, has an established performance partnership with Leicester.

Lewis Chessum, Charlie Titcombe and Harry Palmer have previously spent time with the Dynaboars as part of the same development pathway.

Bowen is expected to join Leicester permanently from 2027 onwards after completing his season in Japan.

Bowen said joining Leicester represented an important opportunity to take the next step in his career, highlighting the Tigers’ history and record of success.

"Joining Tigers is a really special feeling," said said Bowen.

"They've had so much success in the past, so to be able to come across to a club like that is super exciting. It's a move that I'm hoping propels my career forward."
