The Fijian Drua delivered a dominant performance at Churchill Park in Lautoka, dismantling the Western Force 38–7 in a one-sided Round 14 clash of the Super Rugby Pacific season.
With this emphatic win, the Drua not only protected their proud home record but also officially ended the Force's already fading playoff hopes.
The Western Force couldn't have asked for a better start. Just three minutes in, Sio Tomkinson burst through to score the opening try of the match, and Ben Donaldson converted to give the visitors a 7–0 lead. But that early joy quickly turned sour.
Midway through the first half, the tide shifted when Force halfback Henry Robertson was shown a yellow card for persistent infringing. Down to 14 men, the Force's defensive structure began to unravel.
The Drua pounced on the advantage, running in multiple tries with characteristic flair and physicality to flip the scoreboard in their favour.
By the time Robertson returned to the field, the momentum had fully swung to the home side. The Force had no answers to the pace and offloading game the Drua brought, and the halftime scoreline of 19–7 reflected a complete turnaround.
The second half brought no respite for the Force. The Drua came out firing and added 19 unanswered points, sealing the match long before the final whistle. Their attacking phases were slick, their support play relentless, and their defence rock-solid.
The Force, by contrast, looked deflated. Ball handling errors, missed tackles, and a lack of urgency plagued their second-half performance.
They were unable to add a single point after that opening try, finishing the match as frustrated passengers to the Drua's celebration
After the match, Force head coach Simon Cron acknowledged the team simply didn’t build pressure at any point during the game and struggled with discipline when it mattered most.
Captain Jeremy Williams expressed similar disappointment, urging the side to learn from the defeat and finish the season with intent.
The result drops the Western Force to ninth on the ladder, mathematically eliminating them from finals contention with only one fixture left. It's another frustrating chapter in a campaign that promised much but delivered inconsistently..
