Argentina international Eduardo Bello has signed a one-year contract extension with Newcastle Falcons, committing to the Premiership club for the upcoming season.
The 29-year-old tight-head prop, who has earned 26 Test caps for Argentina, will remain at Kingston Park as he works his way back from a long-term injury.
Bello missed the entirety of last season after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for Argentina. Before that, he featured in 16 matches for Newcastle Falcons and scored one try.
His previous stint with Saracens saw him play a role in their Gallagher Premiership title-winning campaign before moving to the Falcons.
Newcastle Falcons' director of rugby Steve Diamond expressed his enthusiasm for Bello’s return to the squad.
“Eduardo has worked hard battling back from a serious knee injury picked up when he was playing really well for Argentina, and it will be great having him on board for the new season,” Diamond said.
“When he’s fit, he’s a starting tight-head for a tier-one nation, and he’ll add to the competition we’ve got on that side of the scrum.”
Bello, who lives in Tyneside with his wife Maria Florencia and daughter Amapola, said he is eager to make an impact in the new season.
“I enjoy being in Newcastle, and my family and I are very happy to extend my stay,” he said.
“It’s been a hard year not being able to play after injuring my knee, but I’m determined to make a big contribution during what is a really exciting time for the club.”
