Newcastle Falcons have confirmed the promotion of George Bolam and Elvis Kitenge-Fuki to the club’s senior academy for the 2025/26 season.

Both players have impressed with their performances for the Falcons’ Under-18s and will now train full-time with the senior squad.

Bolam, a versatile forward who can play in the back row or second row, has come through the ranks at Durham School. The 6-foot-4 player has previously represented Horden and Durham City in club rugby. Known for his athleticism and skill, Bolam is expected to develop further with increased strength training as he transitions to senior-level rugby.

Kitenge-Fuki, an England Under-18 international, is a powerful front-row player capable of covering both loosehead and tighthead prop positions. He attended St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School before joining the Falcons’ ACE programme at Gosforth Academy. He has also played for Novos and Tynedale.

Falcons’ Head of Academy, James Ponton, praised the duo's development, stating, “It’s great to see George and Elvis both progressing through our junior academy and getting this opportunity to step up.

"Elvis is a big, powerful prop already at a size suitable for senior rugby, while George is very skilful and plays aggressively around the breakdown.”
