Northampton Saints have confirmed that academy graduate Craig Wright has signed a contract extension with the club, continuing his progression in Black, Green and Gold.
The 21-year-old hooker enjoyed a significant breakthrough during the 2024/25 season, making 14 senior appearances across competitions.
That run included a place among the replacements in the Investec Champions Cup Final at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, underlining his growing role within the squad.
Wright has carried that momentum into the current campaign and has featured in 11 of Saints’ first 15 matches in the 2025/26 season. Since making his senior debut against Ealing Trailfinders in September 2023, he has now accumulated 26 first-team appearances for the club.
A product of Northampton’s academy system, Wright joined Saints at the age of 13 after starting his rugby journey with Braintree RFC.
His development has also been reflected at international age-grade level, having represented England at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 levels. He was part of the England squad at the 2023 World Rugby Under-20 Championship and the title-winning 2024 Under-20 Six Nations campaign.
Speaking after signing the new deal, Wright said remaining at Saints was a straightforward decision, describing the club as his home and highlighting the opportunities to continue improving in a competitive environment.
“It was an easy decision for me to stay at Saints,” he said. “This is my home club, it’s where I grew up, and I’ve always felt a real connection to the place.
“I’m enjoying my rugby, I’m getting good minutes, and it just felt like the right environment for me to keep pushing on.
“I love being part of this group. The detail everyone brings makes such a difference, it lifts the whole standard.
"At lineout time, having guys like Alex Coles and Tom Lockett running things and spotting the tiny cues makes my job straightforward; hit the throw and get us playing. It’s a brilliant feeling when it all clicks".
