Cardiff are set to secure the signing of Wales international Taulupe Faletau from Bath Rugby according to a report.

Wales Online reported that Cardiff are on the verge of bringing the 30-year-old back to the Welsh province which will be a major boost to Wales head coach Wayne Pivac with the World Cup scheduled in 2023.

If the deal goes through, it will be a major boost for Cardiff, who had already announced the signing of Wales flanker Thomas Young from Wasps ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Faletau played for Dragons between 2009 and 2016 before heading to Bath Rugby ahead of the 2016/17 season and has played over 50 Premiership games for the club since then.

The 6ft 2in back-row has featured in 86 Tests for Wales since his international debut in 2011 and was part of the 2011 and 2015 World Cup squads. A clavicle injury injury ruled him out for the 2019 World Cup in Japan.

He has also featured in five Tests for the British and Irish Lions that came during the 2013, 2017 and 2021 tours of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa respectively.

Faletau was amongst the Wales players, who had to miss the autumn international opener against New Zealand last weekend as the game was played outside the international window.
