Bath Rugby have confirmed the departure of Backs and Attack Coach Martin Gleeson after one season with the club, following a campaign that included domestic and European knockout runs.
Martin Gleeson Leaves Bath Rugby Coaching Role
Gleeson joined Bath Rugby in October 2025 and worked as part of Johann van Graan’s coaching staff during a competitive season for the Blue, Black and White.
During his time at the club, Bath reached the play-off stage of the Gallagher PREM and also progressed to the semi-finals of the Investec Champions Cup.
Bath Rugby Attack Coach Departs After One Season
Gleeson arrived at Bath with significant experience across both rugby league and rugby union. He began his playing career in rugby league and went on to represent England and Great Britain.
At club level, he played for Wigan Warriors, Huddersfield Giants, St Helens and Salford City Reds. He later moved into coaching with Warrington Wolves in the Super League before switching focus to rugby union.
Johann Van Graan Thanks Martin Gleeson
Before joining Bath, Gleeson held coaching roles with Wasps and England Rugby, adding further top-level experience to the Bath backroom team.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Gleeson thanked Johann van Graan for the opportunity and said he had enjoyed working with Bath’s staff and players during what he described as a great season.
“I’d like to thank Johann for the opportunity this season to come to Bath and work with some amazing staff and talented players.
“It’s been a great season and I wish the club all the success in the future.”
