Bath winger Will Muir will undergo ankle surgery and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks, according to club medical reports.

Muir, who has already earned caps for England this year and was the top try-scorer for Bath Rugby last season, sustained the injury during a pre-season match against Worcester.

In a separate development, hooker Dan Frost has suffered a broken hand in Bath’s recent defeat by Leicester Tigers and will be unavailable for a number of upcoming weeks.

The reigning Premiership champions have now been dealt with multiple absences: number eight Jaco Coetzee, scrum-half Bernard van der Linde, back Ciaran O’Donoghue and fly-half Sam Harris are all expected to remain out until 2026 due to knee and hamstring injuries.

Meanwhile, back-rower Quinn Roux is available for selection, having recovered sufficiently despite leaving the field early in the Leicester game. Flanker Ted Hill is nearing a return after a three-week lay-off.

Bath are positioned third in the Gallagher Premiership table with three wins from four matches.
