Wales international and British & Irish Lions prop Wyn Jones has officially signed with Dragons RFC, marking a significant return to Welsh rugby ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 33-year-old joins the Gwent-based province after spending the current campaign with Harlequins in the English Premiership.
Jones becomes the seventh new addition to the Dragons’ squad for next season and brings with him a wealth of experience and pedigree at the top level.
He has earned 48 caps for Wales and was a key figure during the Lions’ 2021 tour to South Africa. Prior to his stint in England, he made 136 appearances for Scarlets, contributing to their United Rugby Championship title triumph in 2017.
Known for his scrummaging strength and ability to play on both sides of the scrum, Jones will add depth and leadership to the Dragons’ front row.
He joins a pool of props that includes Rhodri Jones, Rodrigo Martinez, and promising homegrown talents Dylan Kelleher-Griffiths, Jordan Morris, and George Tuckley.
Dragons head coach Filo Tiatia welcomed the signing, stating, “I’m delighted that someone of Wyn Jones' undoubted quality and experience is set to join us next season.
"He adds to our front row strength, providing competition and valuable mentorship to our younger players.”
Jones expressed his enthusiasm about the move, saying, “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to link up with Dragons and return home to Welsh rugby this summer.
"I’ve spoken to Filo Tiatia and Sam Hobbs about the challenges ahead, and I’m excited by the direction and aspirations of the club.”
