Ospreys Rugby Limited has appointed former Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones to its Board of Directors with immediate effect.

The move brings one of Welsh rugby’s most experienced figures into the organisation’s leadership structure as the Ospreys continue their development on and off the field.

Jones will take up a director role with defined responsibilities, drawing on his experience in professional rugby, business and public-sector work.

Born and raised in Swansea, Jones came through the Ospreys pathway and national academy before establishing himself as one of the most decorated players in Welsh rugby history. He also represented Swansea RFC and has maintained strong links with the city following his retirement from playing.

Ospreys continue St Helen’s development plans

A major focus for the organisation remains the development of St Helen’s, with the Ospreys seeking to build a stronger permanent presence in the city.

Jones said his knowledge of the game, Swansea and the wider region would allow him to contribute to the organisation’s ambitions for long-term growth and stability.

He also highlighted the potential surrounding the development of St Helen’s and the increasing engagement among the Ospreys supporter base.

"Ospreys and the supporters returning to St Helen's, the growth of the region and the positive impact on the wider community, these are all connected to our results on the field," he told the club's official website.

"I am looking forward to working with familiar faces and helping to navigate the current landscape of professional rugby.”

Welsh rugby experience added to leadership team

Jones brings extensive elite-level rugby experience to the board following a career that included more than 150 appearances for Wales and multiple British and Irish Lions tours.
