Scarlets have strengthened their high-performance programme by bringing back former Head of Athletic Performance Brad Harrington in a specialist consultancy role for the 2026-27 season.
The 52-year-old will combine periods working directly with the squad in Wales with remote support throughout the campaign.
Brad Harrington Returns to Scarlets
Harrington has travelled from Australia to work with the Scarlets squad during preparations for the new season.
His consultancy role will see him collaborate with the club’s coaching and performance staff, providing an external perspective across player development, medical programmes, athletic performance and coaching pathways.
Harrington previously spent six years with the Scarlets and worked closely with Director of Rugby Nigel Davies during a successful period for the Welsh club.
Scarlets Strengthen High Performance Programme
Harrington brings more than 25 years of experience across professional and international rugby.
Since his previous spell with the Scarlets, he has held high-performance positions with the Wallabies, Waratahs and within Japanese rugby. He has also worked extensively with Argentina, supporting development programmes involving the senior national side, Under-20s and sevens structures.
His career has also included rugby league roles with Halifax and Castleford Tigers before moving into rugby union with Leinster and Ireland Under-21s.
Harrington to Support Scarlets Development
Harrington said his focus will be on examining the Scarlets’ developing performance model while supporting the staff already working within the programme.
“It’s fantastic to be back at the Scarlets. The club has always been very special to me, my young family grew up here and this community and club was a big part of our lives.
“There’s already a lot of very good work being done by the coaches and performance staff. My role is to really drill down and look in detail in the model the Scarlets is building.
"So our player pathway, coach pathway development, the physical and medical programmes and support the people already here, share experiences from other high-performance environments and hopefully provide a different perspective that helps the programme continue to grow and improve".
