Jack Crowley ruled out until new year

Munster and Ireland fly-half Jack Crowley has been ruled out until the new year as he continues his recovery from a lower limb vascular injury sustained in April.

Crowley has been assessed by specialists and, following medical advice, is not expected to return to action before 2027.

The 26-year-old has been sidelined since suffering the injury around Munster’s game against Ulster in April and subsequently missed Ireland’s summer Nations Championship fixtures against Australia, Japan and New Zealand.

Head coach Clayton McMillan said ensuring Crowley makes a complete recovery remains the priority given his importance to both Munster and Ireland.

“Jack Crowley is a very important player for Munster and Ireland with a big future in the game and ensuring he gets back to 100% is the priority".

Crowley to miss Ireland autumn internationals

The extended absence means Crowley will miss the opening stages of Munster’s United Rugby Championship and Champions Cup campaigns.

He will also be unavailable for Ireland’s November internationals against Argentina, Fiji and South Africa, leaving Ireland without one of their leading options at fly-half.

Munster’s depth at number 10 has also been affected by Will Harrison suffering a recurrence of a knee injury during pre-season.

Munster turn to Hanrahan and young fly-halves

Munster still have experienced cover through JJ Hanrahan, who has made 160 appearances for the province and remains among their leading all-time points scorers.
