Worcester Warriors 24-17 Harlequins, Sixways
Scorecard

Harlequins' second-half fight back proved insufficient as the Worcester Warriors managed to secure a 24-17 win at the Sixways Stadium on Sunday.

An seventh minute converted Dean Hammond try and three penalties off fly-half Ryan Mills' boot helped the Warriors take a healthy 16 points lead at the end of the first-half after the visitors drew a blank on the scoreboard.

The Quins finally woke-up to put up an inspiring second-half performance with Charlie Matthews (60) and Alofa Alofa (75) crossing over for tries as replacement fly-half Tim Swiel slotted both the conversions and further on scored a penalty on 80th minute.

However, the Quins found themselves shy by seven points as centre Ben Te'o's 42nd minute try along with Mills' 66th minute penalty gave enough points to the Warriors to see them home safely.

The victory has proven to be a vital one for the Warriors after losing their boxing day contest to Bristol by 28-20 at the Ashton Gate Stadium.

Harlequins director of rugby John Kingston lamented on the inconsistent performance of the team this season.

"We've got to be more competitive though we were excellent in the last 15 minutes.

"We deserve to be where we are in the table as we are too inconsistent, we have tried to change our preparation for away games but it didn't work as we had a poor start.

"Worcester played really well as there are no weak sides in the division and there was no shock in their ability to perform."

Widely regarded as the most competitive rugby union league in the world...it can only be the Gallagher Premiership.
