Wales head coach Warren Gatland has called up uncapped Scarlets centre Eddie James to the squad for the summer Test fixtures.

He will now become the fifth player to feature in the squad named by Gatland alongside Jacob Beetham, Ellis Bevan, Keelan Giles and Josh Hathaway.

James started his professional rugby career with Carmarthen Quins in 2021 and moved to Llanelli in 2022. He made his debut with Scarlets in 2023 and was presented with the Coaches’ Breakthrough Player of the Season award.

He will now join the already announced 36-member squad for the fixture against the Springboks at Twickenham on June 22 with the squad set to be trimmed to 34 for the Test series against Australia and a clash against the Queensland Reds.
