The Queensland Reds have confirmed the promotion of prop Trevor King to their senior squad as part of the newly named 31-man group for the upcoming Super Rugby AUS season.
The 20-year-old has signed a two-year contract, securing his place until the end of 2027.
King is regarded as one of Australia’s most promising young front-rowers. His development includes a rare achievement of playing in three consecutive World Rugby U20 Championships, giving him valuable exposure to international scrummaging standards.
Born in Gladstone, Queensland, King started his rugby journey with the Gladstone Gruffs before further honing his skills at Downlands College in Toowoomba.
Earlier this year, he debuted for the Reds against Tonga in Nuku‘alofa, where an extended shift off the bench showcased his endurance and ability to handle top-level rugby.
Reflecting on his journey, King said: “I drive home from training sometimes and pinch myself that I’ve come this far.
"Starting rugby in a small country town, I never imagined I’d be here.
"The Reds Academy and my teammates have helped me so much, and now I want to give it a real crack.”
The Reds will open their campaign against the ACT Brumbies at Ballymore Stadium on September 14. Their following fixtures include meetings with the Waratahs in Narrabri and the Western Force in Perth, as the squad looks to build momentum early in the competition.
