Toulouse came up with a dominant second half performance as they came from 20-9 behind to win their European Champions Cup opener against Gloucester with a 20-25 margin at Kingsholm Stadium on Friday.

Toulouse kick-started the proceedings with a third-minute drop goal but the Cherry and Whites responded with back to back tries from Joe Simpson in the 11th and 21st minutes while conversions from Danny Cipriani made the scoreline 14-3.

Thomas Ramos and Cipriani exchanged two penalties each as the teams went into the break with a 20-9 lead for the Premiership side.

The French side were quick to get off the block in the second half with a penalty apiece from Romain Ntamack and Ramos that narrowed down the gap between the sides to five points.

The visitors seized the lead at the start of the final quarter when Sebastien Bezy dived between the posts and Ramos kicked a simple conversion to make the scoreline 20-22 before the fullback with his fourth penalty kick ensured a five-point win for Toulouse.

Toulouse will face Connacht next in round two of the tournament at Stade Ernest Wallon on 23rd November while Gloucester will face Montpellier at GGL Stadium on 24th November.
